Bruce Baumgarn Named Member of Platinum Group

Eden Prairie, Minn. (July 8, 2010) — Platinum Group, a transition management firm, announces the addition of Bruce Baumgarn as member. Previously, he had been a client and associate of the firm. His role is to help guide and provide due diligence for the firm’s turnaround equity fund investments, of which he is also an investor. He also sits on the fund's investment committee.

Baumgarn brings 35 years of experience in banking, private equity management and business ownership to Platinum Group. From 2003 to 2007, he was owner of Des Moines-based Mail Services, a mail preparation, sorting and variable-data print and electronic distribution services company. He joined this company in 1997 as part owner. He retained Platinum Group to sit on his board of directors, provide assistance in growing the company and successfully sell his business to a Twin Cities private equity fund in 2007.

Previously, he was senior vice president of MABSCO Capital in Des Moines, where he managed a small venture capital fund and helped business owners with capital formation.

Baumgarn holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Jamestown College in N.D. He is a board member of First American Bank, Des Moines and a board member of Dee Zee, Inc., based in Des Moines. He resides in Urbandale, Iowa.
