Rebuilding Family Relationships After Leaving the Family Business

Family relationships can get complicated when a family member leaves the business for whatever reason, according to a recent article in the Business Journal by Platinum’s Bill English. But it is possible to stay connected with the family and build relationships afterward — with time, patience and maturity.

Case in point is a single, 35-year-old woman who was recently fired by her family from the family business,” Bill writes.  “The firing was not for cause.  She was treated poorly in her exit.  She is considering legal action to force her family to buy out her shares. Her father is refusing to talk to her because she is “not being loyal to the family” because of her potential legal actions against the business.”
